Peacock Farm, Inc. is a North Carolina based company that is owned and operated by Willard Rhodes. Mr. Rhodes was born in Massachusetts where he grew up in the lumber and real estate industry. After owning various businesses in Massachusetts, Vermont, and Florida, Willard found a home in Southern Pines, North Carolina. An avid horseman himself, Mr. Rhodes saw an opportunity to buy large farms and subdivide them into smaller, more manageable and affordable farms. It began with the purchase and subdivision of the historic Stoneybrook property, where his personal farm is located to this day.
After selling all the lots, Mr. Rhodes began buying and developing more properties. Among the properties that he has developed are Stoneybrook, Yellow Frame Farm and Firleigh. With all of these developments, Mr. Rhodes has designed the subdivision with the horseperson in mind. The amenities include a soft surface road that is horse friendly, underground utilities, post and rail fencing, and equestrian easements.
It is this vision that lead Willard Rhodes to develop Pelham Farms. Pelham Farms is the culmination of years of experience and learning what works best in an equestrian development. Included in Pelham Farms are underground water and electric utilities, a grand entrance, a soft paved road, post and rail fencing, and more equestrian easements so that each resident can access the Walthour-Moss Foundation.
In his spare time, Willard enjoys the company of like-minded people that enjoy driving horses as much as he does. Willard is an accomplished and champion driver with titles all over the country, most notably at Walnut Hill. Willard is still very active in the horse community as he continues to serve on the board of the American Quarter Horse Association as well as the Moore County Driving Club. So when you see this 20th century cowboy in his cowboy hat and snakeskin boots, make sure to stop and say hello and you just might get the story of a lifetime!
